Hi you lovely people. Can anyone recommend a good pair of running trainers please. I'm only about to start week 2 but thought I'd better start thinking about a good pair. Thanx

Good pair of running trainers

No, no-one here can recommend a good pair of running trainers for you. Feet are so different, brands and models are so different. There is no substitute for going to a shop...
Great sign that you are enjoying the programme and thinking this running thing is going to be long term and you need to invest in it!

Go and get a gait analysis and try on the recommended ones. I sooo should have done it sooner.

Before I began the podcast, the first thing I did was get a free gait analysis check. So worth it. My instep is quite high and a Nike pair (for example), that I tried, felt awful on me.
I tried a pair of Asics, did the first analysis and the replay showed that just my left foot more than the right, was leaning in slightly when it touched the floor. Tried a different pair of trainers and it was even worse, even with an expensive insole in.
So I tried the Asics Contend Gel 4 again with this Airr Orthotic insole Β£25, and the difference was brilliant. The Asics fitted good before the insole, supportive on the ankle, but even better with the insole in.
Please try the gait analysis, that's a good starting guide. Your feet are so important when running. Good luck anyway with choosing a pair.
Yes, I would definitely recommend a good pair of trainers.

As already mentioned, go to your nearest running shop and get them to record your running on a treadmill. They will tell you which type of shoes suit your foot placement. I over pronate. They brought out 4 pairs for me to run in on the treadmill. I chose the ones which felt the most comfortable. Don't be swayed by any particular brand. I ended up with a pair of Brooks and had never heard of the name until I started my retail running gear shopping therapy.

I started out with Karrimor Tempo from SD. I did try em on and got a half size up. Your feet swell when you run so bear that in mind Some brands run small and narrow so try them babies on ππββοΈπβοΈ
