Age limits?

Is 5 k's do-able for a 77 year old? Should I even be attempting it? Have completed week 2 ( hard!). But I reckon my 'running' (ha ha!) is slower than my 'brisk walk'. Should I settle for just a couple of k's max?

If you are a healthy person there is no harm on starting C25K at 77, if in doubt ask your doctor, there are many people who have started the course +65 and there was someone who graduated at 83, so good luck on beginning the course.

Welcome to the forum.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

As AlMorr says we had an 83 year old graduate a few years ago.

Stay slow and there is no reason why you should not do this.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks Iannoda. Some good tips there. I guess I'll stick at it. I like the bit about going slow!

Silverfox1943 who’s on here is 77 and he’s just completed 10k, so age needn’t be a barrier, but we’re all different so take things at a nice slow and steady pace and your fitness and stamina will gradually increase as you progress on your journey......Good Luck 🏃‍♂️

I echo all the above sentiments. Age is but a number, as long as you feel good then why the hell not. Happy running 😊

I have always said my walking pace is almost faster than my running pace 😂 I have recently noticed however that I am passing more people who are out walking 😊 Could be they are just slow walkers! I will never be fast but am happy with my shuffle.

Age is just a number and so is speed 😉
