Walking

I’m finding that my walking has markedly improved since starting this program. Running seems to be having some amazing benefits in ways like walking among many other things. And I’ve only just completed week 3. So, I’ve noticed that now, when I walk, I’m steadier, firmer, straighter one the ground. Not hard in the ground but it feels, how can I say, more accurate and relaxed? Is it my imagination, or are others noticing changes?

I’m not walking swifter, maybe I will. But definitely more relaxed. It’s a very nice feeling.

I noticed walking became easier and also quicker early on my journey. Balance and posture improved around the same time. I saw this as the first definite sign that my fitness was improving... it was harder to see this with the running, as I didn’t know that I could/couldn’t run x minutes at a conversational pace until I got to the relevant point on the plan. The number of things that have become manageable or easier through (mainly) running never ceases to amaze me.

For me, it’s walking up stairs and doing the housework. Seems silly, but I’ve started to find that rather than collapsing after a morning of cleaning, I’m able to then go to do more stuff in the garden or go for a walk with the kids. Mentally is probably the biggest difference. My kids have remarked that I’m not so grumpy in the evenings!
