Running before walking

Hey I'm Indya, I have done the C25K before but my weight is higher now and I am struggling to leave my house at the moment due to mental health. Yet I have decided to go full pelt and start the programme again. I am aware this will be so much harder than ever before, but figure even if I can't run, I can brisk walk instead. I am looking forward to chatting to others for support along the way!

Good for you! Making the decision to start again is maybe the hardest part. It will get easier as you progress and will also give you something to focus on. Good luck! Look forward to hearing how it goes. :)

Great!

You could, as preparation, do a fast walk/slow walk routine using the timings of Week 1 instead of its jog/brisk walk.

There's no pressure to actually start the C25K "days" until you're confident you can do the running.

Well done on deciding to give it another go !It's probably worth having another read of the program guide here .

Then as already suggested by nowster , fast/slow walks might be a way to get started , at least for a couple of sessions to see how you get on .

Welcome to the forum Indya904 and well done people have restarted the programme many times for various reasons.

This is essential reading for anyone starting the programme or returning after a break

and includes hydration, strengthening exercises and stretching after a run all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey

Well done on taking such a positive step when things are so hard for you. You may find it tougher this time but, you also know from past experience that if you keep going you will get there in the end. Literally one step at a time!

Looking forward to reading about your progress.

Best of luck!

We are all here for you with our hands out to support you , on you brilliant choice to do it again..... Slowly, slowly ... Make a plan that you think will work for you. My plan was loads of prep. Know where I was running,. Know what the run was going to ask of me in terms of how much walking and running. I always had my kit ready the night before and a set time to go out (early because I didn't want to see people and love the early morning air .... I also always visualised my run again and again...... It gave me an inner confidence ; it may not work for you but it might. Keep us updated but mainly enjoy it and know you are doing it for but we are here wishing you all the best.....

Hi Indya, try downloading the NHS Active 10 for brisk walking and give that a go first. That's how I moved onto C25K. Good luck and stay positive

Well done you for making the start! I empathise with how you feel as have been feeling the same! Keep going , even if you have to slow down, just don’t quit! Hopefully you’ll be feeling brighter soon!

Well done, the first step is the hardest. Many of us are second time arounders, you know it works and the time flies by. Good luck.
