Thwarted and Fed Up!

Have had to stop for a couple of weeks because of stitches following a small surgical procedure. Had just done Week 8 Run 1 and wanted to graduate before my 70th in mid July. There is an outside chance of making it although I think I may have to go back a week or 2 in the training programme. My aim now will be to get back as soon as I can and complete the course ASAP. Maybe 70 plus a month??

That's so disappointing.... maybe you can try shorter runs leading to longer and see what you can do?

You may just surprise yourself...

Good luck!!!!

Aww I feel for you! I was in Week 9 then had to take almost 4 weeks out due to a knee injury. The good news is that you have got as far as you have so you know you can do it! Give yourself time to heal, do regular walks if that’s allowed, then when you’re ready pick a run you feel comfortable trying and you’ll soon be back on track to graduation. Good luck

Thank you. I’m encouraged with these responses and maybe I’ll make mid July, fingers crossed.

It’s amazing that your out there even trying at almost 70, I’m 41 and I’ve found it hard work, people such as yourself really are inspiring and put us younger ones to shame, well done for keeping at it 😊

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.
