Feeling fed up

I was so pleased that I had finally got myself motivated and had achieved the first two runs in week 6. My intention was to complete run 3 Sunday morning, but as an asthmatic my chest didn't feel at all right and I have been full of cold ever since. I am starting a new full time job tomorrow and am in London for the weekend. so I don't know when I'm now going to achieve run 3. I desperately wanted to complete it before going back to work, feeling poorly is such a nuisance. Maybe I'll have to repeat week 6. Feel so fed up as it has taken me quite awhile to get this far so I don't want to lose the progress I have made. πŸ˜–

Don't worry, a week or so off won't actually make as much difference as you might think it would. It will be psychological testing more than physical as your fitness shouldn't really have changed. Perhaps you might need to do a test run when you next do just to check how you feel but if you manage physically then carry on with the programme anyway. Not running is the worst thing about it but the programme will still be there when you're free enough to run again. :)

Thank you, just feeling a bit disheartened as it has taken quite some time to get into the correct mind set!

Hi. I agree a week or so off will be fine, just get going again when you are feeling better . I find when I can't run walking more and generally moving about helps me , and then there is always my trusty hula hoop

A new job , how exiting :-)

Thank you, I do have a dog so out for a daily walk. Hula hoop sounds interesting!

I'm in an almost identical situation - I completed week 6 run 1 on Sunday, but with a sore throat and tickly cough. I was hoping it would stay there, but it has gone straight to my chest and now I am coughing up gunk! I've doubled my inhaler in the hope of clearing it quickly!!

I was so looking forward to running, but don't want to risk it while I have my 'you sound like you smoke 50 a day' cough (hilarious for someone who has never smoked!).

Here's hoping we both recover soon and can carry on with week 6!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling low claire332 . Don't worry the next run will wait and you will be able to do it..😊

Good luck with your new job tomorrow AND tell them all that you are a runner..that will guarantee you go out again as soon as you get time and feel better.

We are waiting to hear all about it too.😊x
