Week 7 Run 1

Well, it stopped raining (finally) so I decided to go out for a plod. Got half way round my normal route to find it flooded, so I did another circuit of the lake in the country park (5 minutes from my front door!) instead, I felt like my legs were about to give way when Jo Whiley told me I only had 5 minutes to go, so carried on plodding and made it. I think the young lady going round in the opposite direction thought I was stalking her...! Strangely, although I feel fit to collapse when I'm actually running, within 5 mins of getting home I feel like going again- anyone else ever get this? Day off tomorrow, out early doors followed by my weekly weigh-in on Saturday.

Hi Cp1965. There was so much rain yesterday! We didn’t have any flooding to divert me from my normal route, but it was still raining when I went out. Even if it hadn’t been, I’d still have got very wet from running through all the overgrown bushes and grass on the footpaths around here.

I completely agree with you about that feeling at the end of a run, you often think you’ll never get your breath back yet, within a few minutes, you feel you could happily do it all again. I’ve never actually put that to the test (I’m a fairly new runner, taking care to avoid injuries as I add mileage to my legs) but it’s so tempting to try. I suspect I’d feel pretty whacked after even maybe just 10mins!

Keep running, you’re doing great!
