Peroneal Tendonitis advice

Hi all has anyone suffered from peroneal tendinitis? I’m not 100% sure that I have it but I have swelling around my ankle bone, it feels quite stiff and I feel like something is pulling in my calf. I’ve been running on and off for the past two years and I’d recently started again along with high intensity training. I didn’t suffer any injury it kind of just appeared only it’s been nearly six weeks now and while there’s been a very slight improvement in the swelling it just doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I haven’t been running at all and I know these things can take a long time to heal but if anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful. Thanks

You need higher drop running shoes. If you’re not ready to fork out for them yet, try gel heel cups. Cheap and effective.

Thanks I will definitely give them a try. Hoping to see a podiatrist when they’re making appointments again, I really don’t want this to happen again.

Yip I started getting it last year after a few years of general exercise. On physio advice I did exercises to strengthen my calf muscles, used a foam roller for the tightness and switched to a pair of running shoes for daily use, plus some heel gels in my normal shoes.

Helped a lot. Since then I've dropped some weight and done a lot more running and although I still get a small lump its much better than it was and isn't sore.

Also I didn't stop exercising, used the rice method when I did to control the swelling.

Thanks for your reply. I went to see the doc today and he said yes I can run if I like and lots of stretching exercises. I’m so happy, although I will take it very slow! I’ve never had an injury before and I definitely don’t want it to happen again.
