Returning from injury... need advice please

I’d just reached W7R1 and tore my my calf badly. It’s been 9 weeks of rest and I’m all set to get running again!

What week does everyone advise I go back to please?

Hi Mitchm77, Sounds a painful injury, glad you’re on the mend. I think only you know what your going to be comfortable with, but how about W5R1, it’s staggered and the runs aren’t too long. If that proves too easy, you could move to W6R1 the next time. Just be careful and listen to your body, hope all goes well.....Good Luck 👍🏃‍♀️

I was a little nervous and went for a safer option of W4R3. I survived. So I’ll probably try that one more time and then move to W5R1

Hi Mitchm77 - you have my sympathy - I had a nasty calf tear at Week 8 of the program and was out for even longer! 😩 I can't remember which week I went back to but I think it was 3 or 4(!) I also had one false start where I had to take another weeks break. It's tough - but on the positive, that was all five years ago now and I have not had any further problems with my calves. I have run up to HM distance as well.

Fingers crossed for your return - go steady and listen to your body.

Maybe go for a long stroll initially to see if you can feel any twinges? Or just drink vodka to numb the pain? 😉
