Week 6 shenanigans

I’m really struggling to get past week 6. W6R1 is ok and I have done W6R2 many times as I was scared of having to do 25 mins of running. I tried on Tuesday and I didn’t get to the end of 25 minutes and felt so deflated ☹️ Now I’ve gone back to the beginning of week 6 and found that really hard. How can I get over this and manage the 25 minutes? It’s such a big jump!

You ran run 3 of week 5, it's only five minutes more, yes I know five minutes more might seem a lot, but if you run it especially slowly I am sure you will be able to complete it, drink plenty of water the day before you run and some just before, good luck.

Drink plenty of water the day before that’s a interesting one I’ll try it. Haha I’m already a really slow runner but hopefully I’ll get there soon. Thank you for the support.

The main thing is to stay hydrated.

I felt exactly the same as you about running 25 minutes, but just keet telling myself, keep going or you are gonna be back in 2 days time for a repeat, or come on girl you can do this. You need to believe in yourself because you really can do this.

I know you say you are already running slow but I am sure you can slow it down a teeny bit more. Even if it’s just slower for the first 5-10 mins. This is what will help you physically get through the run. (Together with hydration and stretches)

It sounds as though you have more of a battle in the mind and are doubting you can do it. Which you can! You have already ran 20 mins and if you add the brisk walking in you have already moved continuously for 28 mins in R2.

It’s really a battle of who wins now, the mind gremlins or you (the positive fairy). 😀

Read through some of the posts of others who have done the same runs and leading up to. Lots of helpful links and tips on there,

Good luck!

You absolutely can do this! Maybe you should visualise the gremlins when they start undermining you and swat them away as soon as they start. I remember actually swearing at them at one point. Have another go at the 25 minutes and start with grim determination, proceeding in a snail-like fashion!

It sounds like a mental battle for you this 25mins as well as a physical one. You need to banish all thoughts from your mind and say to yourself ‘don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when your done’ 👊 you’ve got this
