Week 6 in the bag, 3 weeks to go.
Seriously, a month ago when I was sweating and blowing at the end of week 2, if you’d have told me that I’d soon be running 25 minutes non-stop, I’d have suggested that you have a word with yourself!!!
In all honesty, I wasn’t particularly well prepared for this mornings run, things have been a bit manic this week. Diet and hydration have not been as good as normal, and I may or may not have enjoyed a few glasses of Pinot Noir on Friday.
Add in a 10k walk yesterday (round of golf), and the usual minor aches and pains, and it was with much trepidation that I ventured out this morning.
Turned out it was my best run ever, after the first 5 minutes I found a steady rhythm, and before I knew it the halftime whistle sounded and I was on the home leg.
3 songs later and MJ told me I was a runner. A surreptitious double fist punch to celebrate, 5 min warm down walk, stretches and water and I’m now laid out on the couch contemplating whether to have scrambled eggs for breakfast, or treat myself to a bacon sandwich.
Musical inspiration this morning came from The Stone Roses, the La’s, Eminem, Amy Winehouse and the peerless Paul Weller. Awesome stuff.
