Starting (again)

Hi,

I’ve tried C25K a couple of times before, but I’ve never made it to 5K. I’ve got to week 5 twice.

Any tips to make it this time would be appreciated. Would you recommend starting from week 1 or later?

Hi and welcome to the forum! Firstly, I hope that posting here will help your motivation as you share the journey with others - there are always others who are at the same stage as you. Do check out our FAQ post about starting Couch to 5k link below. Essential reading and full of good tips.

As for where to start, that depends on your current level of fitness - but I would start at a week you can very comfortably manage. If you jump in too deep, you may struggle and find that affects your motivation. I always say that if this is a real change for life, then there is no rush - enjoy the ride!!

It's also worth pointing out that despite the program name, the aim is actually to get you running for 30 minutes! Lots of folk do not run 5k in 30 minutes (even after graduating) as we all run at different paces. This can be achieved, if you choose, once you have completed the program.

Well done for returning to the program - I'm curious as to why you stopped on the times before? Lots of support to get you all the way this time - good luck! 🙂👍

That’s incredibly helpful. Thank you! I’m almost tempted to start at week 1 and enjoy some less challenging runs.
