Its been an interesting time since graduating a week or so ago. I was a little concerned about not being'told what to do' with the app and being left to my own devices. I downloaded a number of running podcasts but none of them have done the trick yet. I have also varied my route and whilst I was never bothered about distance covered in the 30 mins today in the rain for the first time I ran for 32 mins and reached the 2 mile mark in advance of the 30 mins I had set myself. I also thought I might have been able to go on but I was at 32 minutes level with a nice little café kiosk in the park so decided to stop there and have a coffee in the rain as a treat. I feel like things are beginning to change and although I have rarely found this journey easy and feel the strain of plodding around my route ( oh to be 3 stone lighter!!) I do feel as though this has now become a habit and there is little room for 'will I go for a run?' and its more 'when will I go for a run today?' . How exciting is that !!! Still cant believe I'm running and talking about running on a fairly regular basis and managing to run a total of around 8 miles a week is a complete and happy miracle for me . If you are reading this and finding it a bit of a plod - hang in there brighter days are just up ahead !!!
Consolidation Run 4: Its been an interesting... - Couch to 5K
Consolidation Run 4
Great post Eveb1 ! I was really worried about leaving Michael behind but I have only brought him with me once since graduation and although it was quite nice to hear the time I was surprised that he actually got on my nerves a bit,😱especially as he didn’t seem to know I was consolidating 🤷🏼♀️
I’m enjoying the feeedom and today I bit the bullet and deleted the app! I’ve done different routes too and I’m thinking about trying some podcasts instead of my usual playlist -not sure how I feel about that as I love my music, but it’s worth a try!
It’s great to hear you are enjoying your running 🏃🏼♀️
Well done. I had the same concerns about not having the time counted but decided yesterday to try without and just rely on Strava telling me every half km. it worked fine and I actually got to 4.5k and it took 34 minutes. I thought about keeping going but decided to heed all the advice on here and not push it. I’m more interested in building up to 5k and not particularly worried about the time, although I seem to run at more or less the same pace now. The weather here has been good for the last few days, not too hot anymore and dry so looking forward to consolidation 5 tomorrow morning. I was lucky that I only had to run in the rain once and it wasn’t pleasant!
Can I ask, how do you set Strava to give time prompts please?
Hi, if you press the record button as if you are about to start a run, a settings icon comes up in the top left corner. There are various options then available to toggle on and off, one of which is audio cues which can be set for half or full km. I had to google it to work out how to find it after someone on here mentioned getting prompts from Strava. Good luck
That sounds great. I am about to go for my second consolidation run and also feel nervous on not having Jo speak to me telling me how long I have done and left so will still use the app again. It is interesting though to hear how you have been managing without it so this is something I am now thinking about.
Thank you very much, I've found it now.
