Week 9 run 1 done! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Absolutely loving this running lark! In week one and two, I really struggled with calf pain - all I can put this down to is the fact that my body was adjusting to the physical exertion my body was being subjected to!

Once the calf pain started to subside, I really did push on and have hit PB after PB - running harder and faster than I can ever remember. Iโ€™ve had good runs and a (very) few bad runs.

Today was an absolutely disgusting run. I have been doing quite a lot of physical labour in the garden in the last few days - but decided to go for a run at about 3:30pm. I had a stitch (I never get a stitch) which Iโ€™m putting down to slight dehydration. I picked a route I hadnโ€™t run before which was very hilly. My body was screaming at me to stop from about 1km. My mental strength dragged me through and when I got back, I wasnโ€™t expecting my Strava to say much - I was so proud of myself for completing the run and not letting the gremlins stop me! Needless to say, when I uploaded my run to Strava and it said โ€œ6 Best Effortsโ€ I couldnโ€™t actually believe it! The most remarkable best effort was a new PB for 5km - 29:57!! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฉ

This course and forum have been superb through my journey - I canโ€™t wait to graduate on Wednesday, consolidate for a few weeks and then hopefully push towards running my first ever 10km.

Iโ€™ve really discovered a new-found love for running - itโ€™s helped me so much during this pandemic, especially my mental health! If youโ€™re struggling or at the beginning of the course and wondering if it works, it really, really does. Stick with it and you will become a runner! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

I don't think that was a disgusting run, to get a sub 30 minute 5k on run 1 of week 9 is excellent, only problem now is to get a sub 30 minute 5k on the two remaining runs including your graduation run, but you do not need to run sub 30 minute 5k on any of those two runs, the main thing is that you complete them by running non stop for 30 minutes, good luck for your graduation run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ˜Š.

By disgusting I mean - thatโ€™s how I felt running it - all I wanted to do was stop. Glad I didnโ€™t though!

I think if you ask all runners, at times from time to time they wanted to stop at some point in the run but once they have completed it they are glad they didn't. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ
