5k to 10k

β€’8 Replies

I've now completed C25K achieving 5k on Week 8 Run 1 and every run since.

I've looked at the plan by JuJu for going from 5k to 10k but I really like the structure the app gave me to get to Week 9 Run 3 and all the goals achieved along the way.

I've installed the 5k to 10k app by Zen to help achieve this , has anyone used this or could recommend something similar?

I followed Ju-Ju's plan. I thought it was a great structure! It showed me that I don't have to run 5k every time, it let me build up distance carefully and it let me introduce the idea of different paced runs. Her 10k plan is more along the lines of most running plans beyond 5k. You still get the same sense of progress that C25K gives you as well. I'm honestly not sure what's not to like about it 😊. I've done it three times now πŸ˜ƒ. But whatever you decide to do, I hope you enjoy it - 10k is a great distance πŸ‘

I love the look of her plan but as far as I can see its not an app , unless I'm mistaken?

Correct. No app.

I used Mapmyrun at first, although now I use Strava (for all my runs). Both of these phone apps will record your runs and can be set to give you voice prompts based on time or distance intervals. Alternatively if you have a Garmin watch ( probably other brands too), you can set training workouts on there by time or distance. MMR and Strava both have the advantage of giving you a great running record/diary where you can add photos or comments and observations about your run. Worth a look 😊

Thx for the advice Linda9389 , I'm currently already using the free version strava ( I have since the start)

I've got my eyes on a garmin 45 as it has the coaching included however I need to invest in professionally fitted running shoes first as they are more of a priority

C25K has been amazing so 10k is my next target 3x a week πŸ˜€

10k 3 times a week is big mileage! That's over 120k a month. Ju-jus plan follows the 10% rule and has a couple of consolidation weeks too. These are important as you increase mileage. Take care.

The free version of Strava, with voice notifications during the run is all you need - you're right to prioritise the shoes 😊

No it isnt. Why do you want an app? I just use my sports watch to check for times, distance, pace etc. I set it to buzz every 1k and it also buzzes wvery 15 minutes so I know when I've got to start watching the time. Its great not to carry my phone as well.

I'm doing the Magic Plan as well - its great!

I'm investing in professionally running shoes first , garmin will have to wait πŸ˜₯

Fair enough - your phone can do everything anyway.
