Week 9 and Still no change on the scales

Hello - I am so pleased with myself, after numerous attempts with C25K I have finally got to the last week - No having to re do weeks and I have loved it.

What is really annoying is that I have not lost any weight !!! I feel great but would love to see a decline in pounds. I have also stopped drinking so feeling rather hard done by :(

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

Paula

Welcome and very well done.

Have you been using a tape measure too? The scales don’t show everything. Running in itself isn’t a weight loss activity, but with a few tweaks to nutrition, it can be a big help. As we start to run, we start to develop muscle... it’s not at all uncommon for that to slow or stop any weight loss, it’s even possible to gain a little... at the same time though, fat is being burned, so you may well be a little smaller.

You’re doing great with the running... each time you run you get fitter and stronger... that’s going to enable you to do more things, and all that added together should make your weight loss journey a little easier. Celebrate your achievements.

Have you had a look at the Weight Loss NHS forum? They’re a very friendly bunch, with much more knowledgeable than any diet book... they’ll help you find the answers that you need with that side of things. Some people don’t eat enough when trying to lose weight, and while in theory of calories out are greater than calories in you’ll lose weight, the body can go into a preservative mode that resists the process. The calorie checker here nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... will give you a calorie range to eat... aim for the top end of the scale it gives you and keep moving!

You’ll hit all your goals in time... don’t let it get you down, you’re on week 9... you’re a 30 minute runner... that makes you awesome.

Thanks for the reply :) I have been monitoring only for a week, so I think you maybe right. I have looked at some running sites who are showing how to work out your calories for the day taking into account that you need a deficit of around 3k a week to lost 1 or 2 pounds so lets see if this has the desired result !

Its an eye opener isn't it when you write all you food for the day down!

Kind Regards

Paula

Well done on getting to Week 9! In 10 weeks since lockdown/furlough, I’ve Cycled over 525 miles & covered 81 miles to date on Couchto5k! I don’t thing I’ve lost an ounce! I’m eating more! 😂 Got to be healthier though, surely! 🙏 Good luck with graduation, soon!

Welcome.

As mentioned in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... C25k is not a weight loss programme. Without addressing diet, running for thirty minutes will not burn enough calories to aid weight loss.
