Bruised ribs- still running

I slipped in the bath and bruised my rib muscles four days ago. No serious damage, and no pain on breathing, but it is painful to do certain things - makes you realise how the muscles that move your arms are connected to the ones in your chest! I did my second week three run the day after, and it was fine. Today I will finish week three. I’m determined to keep going and get to 5k and I’ve already lost 5lbs through running slowly and eating healthily.

Just take it gently..the impact of running will make it a longer healing process!

I take it gently anyway- my ‘running’ is slow and easy. It doesn’t hurt at all when I run, so I think It’s OK, but I will pay close attention to how it feels. Thanks for the advice!

I feel your pain... managed to punch myself and break two ribs once (I like to get injured differently 🤣) and couldn’t believe how many simple things had me in agony for a long time. Hat’s off to you for keeping this going. Your journeys are both going great... and there’s no doubt in my mind reading this that you’ll smash all your goals.

Well, that is certainly a unique way of breaking your ribs! I’m lucky that I’m only bruised. It’s reaching out and up with my left arm that really hurt, and various getting up and down movements. If the running starts to hurt I’ll stop- but I really don’t want to! Thanks for the encouragement.

Well done on the run, despite the bruised ribs 👍😁
