Felt good tonight. I am mentally ready for the 20 minute run next. I’m still getting tight calves but with my warm up and stretches and foam roller it gets easier as I jog. I’m only still doing around 2 miles in 30 mins though but I have to keep telling myself concentrate on jogging for 30 minutes straight then work on pace. But I’m feeling good. Any tips for the 20 minute run? I’m guessing it’s all about mental strength and belief in yourself?

Excellent! Yes I think it’s all about belief in yourself - mind over matter. You’ve come this far so trust the process. You can do it!

Well done! I've just completed r3 today. I was getting calf strains and I found that jogging with a flatter foot really helps. Good luck 👊

Yeh, read every single jubilant week 5 run 3 post for motivation, go as slow as you can the whole way and have complete faith in the programme. You are about to amaze yourself!😀 👍🏃‍♀️

Well done 👍

Watch out for W6 as you are back to intervals. This W6 catches many runners out after the long run of W5 R3. But after completing W6 you will officially classified as a RUNNER. Onwards and Upwards.

It's definitely a mind game. But think about how many minutes you have run/walked in total this week, a 20 min straight run is one minute less than the runs/walk of your last session.

A few tips-

Trust in the programme. Do you remember how every week seems impossible at the outset but then you end up being able to do it? Well this is no different at all, believe it or not.

Also I realised that you run for as long as you're directed to, then stop because it's time to stop and mentally you think phew! But your body is actually capable of much more because that's what the programme is doing for you. So you'll amaze yourself when you can do it!

I actually find it easier not stopping and starting. The beginning part of any run is the worst for me and with the shorter runs I have to keep overcoming that first couple of mins where my body is saying what in earth! Once you don't have to stop anymore it's better, you get past the start bit and then get into your stride, you get to listen to more great tracks if you listen to music too 😆

One last thing- hydration is everything. That will definitely help your calves. I've become very strict at measuring how much I'm drinking every day, and it's really helping my calves.

Good luck, I look forward to reading your celebratory post when you've nailed it!
