Week 7 Run 1

I finished this run this morning. Despite having done the same run at the end of week 6 this time it was sooo much harder. My legs were protesting almost until the end. It was a real battle of the mind. However, when Laura said if you feel up to it you can increase your pace for the last minute I thought, hell yes, I'm going to speed up. Strangely, instead of my leg protesting more, they actually felt better. Could it be that my body has a natural pace it wants to run at and making it go slower (because I'm worried about tiring myself out) actually makes running less efficient and makes my legs protest more?

Congratulations the key thing is you did it and you are running. Keep it up and accept some runs are worse than others.

Well done, you're doing great!👍

Some runs are good, some not so much. It can depend on lots of things like sleep, hydration and weather conditions.

I don't know about a natural running pace. I keep putting the same effort in and, by concentrating on good form and running style, I've got faster without even noticing.

Professional runners like to train using negative splits - running the first half of a race slower than the second. It's definitely the way to go - don't stop doing it! It's always better to leave something in the tank than run out of puff half way round.
