Hi! I’ve just completed week 1 of c25k and week 1 of Slimming World 🤩 I’m obese, unfit and have aching calves. Would anyone recommend repeating week 1 a few times to “get into it” I’m also quite concerned about breathing!! I seem to be struggling after every 60 second run🙈

Myself and my partner felt exactly the same on week one but keep going check out this video and take it slow it really works we have just done wk3 run1 and by using the slow running technique we smashed it and feel great. You can do it 😀🏃‍♀️👍 youtu.be/9L2b2khySLE

Thank you, and thanks for the video, it was an interesting watch! I think I will watch it again before my next run.

I'm also doing SW and C25K, just completed wk5 R2. Read the intro and keep your pace really slow, also check out where your foot lands. I had calf strains and it's due to going too fast and where your foot lands. I feel like I'm shuffling more than running but it's about keeping your pace slow. Someone said on here tortoise and hare. It doesn't matter about speed. That's something for the next chapter!

Keep going, you're doing great 👊

Thank you for the encouragement 🥰

I also shuffle/waddle than run and find it some much more manageable! I’m so pleased to find others who do the same! 😁👏

It could help with my breathing too 🥰

Hi again, I have just run week 5 run 2! You saying about the tortoise and the hare has stuck with me and got me through till now... how are you doing with your running now? You must have completed the full 9 weeks 🥰🥳⭐️

Oh so glad the 'paid forward' advice helped you like it did me!

Yes, I graduated last Friday 🎉🎉🎉

I've completed 3 consolidation runs since (still going at my pace and not getting 5k in 30 mins).

Still have MJ in my ears cheering me on. Planning on carrying on with this for a few weeks until i feel ready to go to 32 mins!

Keep going! I can't tell you how good it feels to complete the program, such an achievement! 😊

Welcome and well done 👍 The hardest part was getting out the door.

You will fine that most people on the forum are carrying a bit of weight, your amongst friends here.

As to breathing that comes with time. You are maybe running to fast. Slow right down. Our mantra on the forum is run 🏃‍♀️ slow, very slow. Find your inner tortoise 🐢 or inner snail 🐌 this is going to be your best friend. No matter how slow you think you are going, you can still go slower.

Also remember to hydrate really well the weather is getting warmer and that will help with your running 🏃‍♀️. Enjoy and keep post here so that we can support through your highs and lows.

Thank you for your encouragement and support... I shall definitely be slowing down! I focus on a signpost/ letterbox/lamppost and aim to get to that certain point in a 60second run, I thought it was a good idea to keep me motivated till the 60 seconds is up... maybe not the best idea😩🤣🤣

That’s ok. You need to build stamina first for distance.

Yes I will take on board all the advice about slowing down, I’m 47 and haven’t run since school🤣

90% on the forum haven’t run since school, so you are in good company 😂

Well done for starting. Slow is good. The video clip of Japanese jogging really reassured me that it's much better to slow it down.

Good idea. Be interesting to look back on these extraordinary times & how we're all coping - getting fitter!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

If you have fully completed all of the W1 sessions then be brave and move on, follow the advice about pacing and hydration and you will surprise yourself.

Enjoy your journey.
