You can do it!!, 2 weeks ago I struggled through Week 1 puffing and panting, yesterday I ran 3 minutes with relative ease, if I can do it so can you. Slow and steady!!

Good luck for next time. Take it nice and slow.

Welcome... well done for beginning:)

Tale it slow and take it steady. Follow the programme and take your rest days..listen to your body which may complain a little.

Exercise on rest days will help.. non impact.. like these, which many did in conjunction with C25K..

nhs.uk/livewell/strength-an...

but, walking or cycling or swimming can help too.. for strength and stamina :)

Keep posting too for great support and encouragement.

Hi there ellisjune ...well done for trying...these early runs are the hardest by far, I refer to them as weak 1 etc, as this is how some people feel...weak & unfit, but, & it’s a big BUT, with your attitude you will definitely succeed...you’ve posted on here too so that must mean you’re serious about it...bag the running that you did today & whatever distance you covered because all that adds to building your stamina & strength...just because it’s a 9 week programme doesn’t mean it should only take you 9 weeks either, you are free to repeat weeks/runs if you feel you need to. Start slowly & if you’re still struggling, slow down some more..listen to your body...good luck, keep posting & you’ll get all the encouragement & advice you need on here...🏃🏼‍♀️👍🏼💪🏻

Well done on starting as that is always the hardest part of any exercise program and welcome to the best forum in the world where you will find loads of advice, plenty of encouragement and oodles of running love to share!!

I felt very much like you in my first run which was 9 weeks ago and today I graduated!!

Follow this wonderful program but as a good friend of mine, Oldfloss, will no doubt tell you, Slow and Steady is the way forward. Take each run as it comes and if you don't manage it, don't be disheartened, just chalk it up to a practice run and try again after a rest day. Oh, and rest days are important, I mean they are really, really important!! Never, ever, ever miss one out!!

Please keep posting on here so that we can follow your progress and we'll also give you loads of encouragement.

Good luck with the running 🏃🏻‍♀️👍🏼

Some people take a run or two to build up to the first run. Once you have done that you are on your way. You definitely can do it. Just run slow and don't give up. You will never regret it.

Well done for getting off the starting blocks, so to speak!

Week 1 is hard for all of us I suspect. You've already overcome the big challenge which is attempting run 1. Trust me, I was begging for mercy week 1, and now I can run for 25 minutes. I was really really unfit, so this really do-able. And it will make you feel great!!

One tip I found really helpful, if you are feeling like you can't complete a running segment, slow down. It doesn't matter if your run is slower than your walk.

All the best, don't worry about speed, and we WILL be here to cheer you on.

All the best! Neil :-)

I failed my first run - 2nd and 3rd were better but hard. Now on Week 7. You can do it. It’s physically challenging but also mentally. Much tougher than sitting on the sofa but more rewarding too. Well done for getting started.

There are a few of us here who would be classed as "Unlikely Runners" :)

Just last week I mentioned to someone who has known me for about 20 years that I was running this Saturday.

The look if shock on their face was almost as funny as how quickly they tried to hide it :)

This programme works :) just take it slow and steady and at your own pace :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Had a similar reaction from a reli recently. Pretended to act indignant but was actually quite pleased - yes, I know it’s unlikely... but it’s true!

I’m about to start week 3 and I remember that horrendous run 1 with depressing clarity! Keep it in mind though because you will be amazed the difference even a week and a half makes. I’m attempting 3 minute runs in the morning when I couldn’t do lamppost to lamppost runs before I started. Post when you feel down - there are so many lovely people on here who will gee you along 😊 🏃 x
