Rubbish consolidation run

First time posting on here but have been silently taking advice from all your posts.

I graduated the programme on Sunday 🎉 it felt great and I managed to run just over 4k in half an hour, this is roughly my average.

Today I went for my consolidation run and it was terrible, I ran my slowest ever times by alot and had to give up after 3k.

I know this will get better hopefully, vey gutted to have such a bad first run after graduation

Hello fellow graduate. Are you still using the app? We are now building stamina and add miles to our legs. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Just enjoy your runs from now on. All part of the learning experience for us newbies runners.

Don’t be put off, there will be good and bad consolidation runs, the key point is to just keep going out and running. Don’t be hard on yourself in terms of distance or time, just consider any run as a boost to your stamina. Just think how far you have come to be able to say that 3km was a bad run 😂

Don’t worry HC92! The runs will get better as you go on - we don’t suddenly turn into Mo Farah after we graduate, much as we would like to! The distance will come in time, just hang in there and keep running!

Post graduation running can feel strange... and that can make the runs tough. This is so common that we now have a consolidation club for new graduates, this month it is being run by the lovely roseabi healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Don’t worry about any run... sometimes they’re tough. Maybe hydration was off, maybe the slower pace meant taking yourself out of you happy rhythm, maybe the heat was too much... lots of reasons, some more obvious than others. Maybe it was just a tough run... the next one will be better.

Post graduation runs can be challenging. I remember having a couple of really difficult runs at that stage. Tracking distance can be encouraging and discouraging! You ran 3k. How great is that! You stopped at that point. If it's anything like here today it's pretty hot and a tad muggy too! Just leave that run behind you. It is difficult not to get discouraged I know and I've posted similar experiences on the forum. Good luck.

My first consolidation run was on Monday and it went great, but the second one today was a real slog, as everyone says there’s no rhyme or reason to it, so put it behind you and I’m sure next time will be fine, you’re obviously fit enough as you graduated, stay positive 💪🏻👊
