So I attempted Week 6 Run 3 this morning, which consists of a 25 run. My head was just not in the right place and I didn’t believe I could do it. After a few minutes of running I started walking. I was extremely disappointed in myself as I have ran 20mins straight before. I decided instead of completely giving up and going back to bed, I would go for a walk to try and build up my stamina. I walked for just over 45 mins and anyone who knows me, knows I hate walking. I’m proud I still achieved something this morning and I will not allow this bump in the road to stop me from completing Couchto5K. Another thing I need to get used to is running when it’s light, I’m so used to getting up at 5:30am and running in the dark. I need to give my head a wobble and dig out some self belief that I can do this x
Found a positive in a rubbish run : So I... - Couch to 5K
Found a positive in a rubbish run
You had a bad run, it happens to us all.
You will do better the next time 👍
Well done for getting out there and getting your body moving. Any exercise is good for you. And well done for looking for the positives it’s so easy not to!
Excellent attitude! 👏🏻 well done for getting something out of this, we all have unhappy runs sometimes, but you managed to get a positive outcome. You’ll do it next time! Rest, stay hydrated, and believe in yourself and the plan 👏🏻
As others say we all have not good runs. Believe in yourself you are doing great and well done for walking and not going straight home
Be proud
1st positive - you got out there. 2nd positive - the original plan didn't work, so you changed it. 3rd positive - you ran in daylight (which you're not used to). 4th (and upwards) positives - you're proud of what you achieved today, you're not going to let this put you off, and you're having a word with yourself about daylight running. What's not to like? You did really well, well done you!
Some runs just don't work out the way we expect. You stayed out and walked instead so still a positive. Have a rest day and try again. You can do it. Good luck 😊😊
Thank you all for your words of encouragement it means a lot. I need to overcome my fear of running when it’s light, I think I am just embarrassed as I am a slow runner and run along a busy road.
I think a lot of us are slow runners and a lot of us aren’t comfortable being seen running... but.... we ARE running, no matter how slowly, we’re out there doing it... I’ll bet there’s a good number of those car drivers applauding you and wishing they had motivation, willpower and determination to do what you’re doing! So Good on You!
Hoping you hang in there and push ahead, even if you have to take more rest days.
I also found my last run didn't go to plan, I was tired, under hydrated and developed a twinge in my groin. I have had a week off running and plan to go tomorrow and see how it is. I also feel rather self conscious running and tend to go early however as it gets colder I will probably tweak the timings. I have had runners overtake me and speed off into the distance while I channel my inner 🐌! However when I think I'm nearer 50 than 40, never been sporty thought I couldn't run and are several stone overweight I'm doing fine! I used to look at people running and think wow I wish I could/ have the guts to. When I saw someone probably like me I used to think fair play braver than me! So keep 🏃🏽♀️ and if they have noticed you they are probably thinking bravo! X
