W1R2 done!

Never ran or jogged ever in my life. Today i completed my 2nd run of week 1... Proud of myself to be able to run 60 secs in one go 😁 however, i am getting quiet a lot of pain on the back of my calf just few inches above my ankle. Any suggestions from anyone who might be able to point out some solution for that?

Thanks!

No solutions apart from the usual, go slow, drink plenty, massage and stretches

Do read the guide there is so much good advice in there

Congratulations!

My biggest advice is to go slow. Most of the time you are going faster than you think you are and your body isn't used to that yet!

Pre-stretches (dynamic ones) before a run are definitely a must as well!

Good luck and I'm excited to see the rest of your journey!

Yes, do check out the FAQ in the pinned posts.

You might want to *avoid* hitting the ground heel first... and I find it is helpful to keep my calves covered in all but the warmest weather.

Well done. I had the same problem. I’m on week 6.2 today. Make sure your trainers are the right ones for your running style and foot shape. Any specialist running shop can sort that for you. Stretching before and after and compression tights. I run in 2XU compression tights and they make such a difference to my calves. Have fun.

Congratulations you are doing great. I was there. I couldn’t even jog in the first week at all. Now on week 5 and feeling so pleased to say I slow jog.

I do the dynamic stretches but still get calf pain. Keep going

I’m at the same stage and noticed pain in my left hip. I felt I was dying after run 1 but I was on a real high after run 2 yesterday and not as much pain. Good luck

Don’t know what your pain is. It is my second day too. I have pain in my shins though.
