W1R2 done this evening... Wow my shins!!!

So another one done and I felt great at times and horrific at others. The rain wasn't helping but I'm very proud of my self going out in the rain and also on a Monday! In the past I'd have made my excuses but knowing that people are following my posts helps me out so much.

As the title suggests my shins were killing after the run. The muscles felt like they were going to explode, something I haven't felt since I was discharged from the army with compartment syndrome some 13yrs ago.

Tomorrow's task... Compression socks and a foam roller.

My girlfriend helped me out tonight with a makeshift massage using a deodorant can haha worked though!

So tonight I went a little farther and a touch fast... PROGRESS! Next run either Weds or Thurs depending on these shins.

Happy running ;-)

Great stuff well done you. Are you doing some stretching after your run and keeping yourself well hydrated? I have to admit I was guilty of not drinking enough when I first started on the program. Keep up the good work

Yes make sure you drink plenty of water the day before. That advice has definitely helped me. Well done! Nearly first week done 💪🏽

I seem to remember my shins hurting quite a bit in the first few weeks but they gradually got better as my legs became conditioned to the running.

Lots of stretching and don't go too fast. :)

Well done for making a start and doing the 2nd run. Looks like a beautiful location you have to run in.

Well done and keep going. Remember there is no shame in running really, really slowly at this stage.

What... running up near The Grane Rd in this foul weather? It's bad enough here in the benign Ribble Valley. Well done you.

If you meant it was a leg injury leading to compartment syndrome in the lower limb, that might be linked to the pain now? Any medics on here?

Great views though. I'm looking forward to the summer when I can run for longer and enjoy the views without panting and getting sweat in my eyes 😂

My shins felt awful after first few runs, I changed my running shoes and I’ve never had any problems since.
