Week 7 R1

Well, I managed W6R3 two weeks ago and then hadn't been able to run more than 18 minutes since due to knee pain. Took it easy. Iced. Stretched a lot. Took extra rest days.

Yesterday felt like the day to try again. Downloaded a C25K app (NHS app not available in the US, so had been listening to the podcasts). Put on an interesting podcast instead of the interminable synth music with Laura being peppy, and then the app just gave me time reminders.

Chose a new and more interesting route (instead of laps of the track at the park). After walking the dog 2 hilly kms earlier in the morning I chose a steep upward climb for my warmup walk and started running before I got to the top. The run itself was net downhill but with several short upward runs.

I did it. It felt totally manageable and I could have run for longer! With THIS run I felt like a runner. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. My knees don't hurt.
