Struggling with week 7

Hi!

I'm on week 7, day 2 but can't quite manage to keep running for the full 25 minutes. I still need a couple of short walking breaks which is so annoying! Anyone else?

Thanks! xx

It happens most of us at some point or other :) Best thing to do is just relax for a run or two and don't worry about the 'schedule', as you get closer to Graduation you tend to put unconscious pressure on yourself and that throws everything off :)

Slow down by trying this - see how REALLY slow you can run without actually taking a 'walking step'. It's a hell of a lot harder than it sounds but it's fun and you will also probably be surprised how much ground you cover even though it feels sooooooo slooooow. It's kind fo a silly fun thing to do to remind you of the joy of running and it tends to 'reset' your pace to a doable one for the increased times you are doing :)

🙂 thank you! I'll try that and let you know how I get on. I live on a very windy island which sometimes makes running feel twice as hard so slow going is very appealing! X

The structure of the programme is great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes we can lose sight of the Forest for the Trees if you know what I mean :)

Headwinds are no fun - but tailwinds.....oh man, I LIVE for tailwinds around here :) It's hills all around except for a park that is infested with refugees and their canines from the Twilight Zone :)

Ooh! Yes! Tailwinds are the best - especially on the way home! Xx

Just wondering - is it a Scottish Island or Irish one? ;)

Yup, I found everything much easier when I slowed down and concentrated on keeping on running for the time and forgot about how far I was running.

Try dropping your speed. It’s more important to keep running - the speed doesn’t matter. I always think I can’t do it but I find the first 20 mins the hardest, I’m always ready to give up but manage to keep going. It’s more mental than physical at this stage.
