Week 6 run 1

I did this run a couple of hours ago and struggled despite not expecting to smash it after last week. Even adopting my usual approach of slow and steady does it, I couldn't find any real rhythm.

I read so much on here about this run catching people out do maybe I went out with that mindset ? I'm beginning to realize that this malarkey is 90% in the mind.

I agree music helps slow my pace and one of the music sites shows songs by bpm. Good luck

Thanks!

I don't think I need any help in slowing down ha ha! πŸ˜€

Slow and steady. That's been my philosophy throughout this plan

I normally swim so I'm just focusing on getting the old legs used to all this weight bearing excercise

Thanks!

Totally get what you say about running with music but for some reason I don't really like doing that.

I run through woodland and love hearing the birdsong.

A friend advised trying a spoken word podcast for distraction so I might try that for the longer runs coming up.

I'm sure I'll get my rhythm back once these interval runs fine and dusted.

Oh that's an interesting idea.

I have this run tomorrow. I’m a bit confused how the programme has gone from a 20minute run back to walking intervals, although i never thought i would run for 20 mins on Sunday. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Me neither.

I just think you have to trust in the plan. It has got me from not having run since I was at school (40 years ago!), and hating it then, to being able to run non stop for 20 minutes last week and getting a real buzz out of doing it.

Go out there tomorrow, you can and will do it!!!

I did W6R2 yesterday and also found that hard. Back up to 25mins tomorrow. Not sure how. I love the feeling when I've finished but would be good to get to the point I actually enjoy the running bit!

Yes.

I really don't like the effort of continually putting one foot in front of the other but I am starting to get a buzz out of finishing. I wonder if I will ever enjoy running as much as I do swimming.
