Gutted, haven't been able to run this week because my asthma is so bad, even walking I can get out breath. Running for 25 minutes seems a world away right now. When people think of asthma they probably dont realise just how many things it can stop you doing and how it affects your life, at the moment I am struggling to speak because my throat feels so tight. All throughout college I became so shy and introverted because I knew I couldn't speak properly with people. Last summer I was an outpatient and did physio and breathing exercises. Since then I was fine and my asthma the best it's ever been, I started to become confident and loud. It is so disappointing to be back where I was before and feel trapped again. But I have gone to my GP and I am sorting it out, so hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to run again, even if I have to start at week 4. I will keep trying and going because if I dont it wins and I lose.

Is your asthma affected by allergic response to pollen?

The pollen count is high at present and it affects many runners.

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear of your Asthma.

Please look after yourself first .

C25K will wait for you .

You are correct, the general public do not know how serious Asthma can be .

My friend lost her teenage daughter to an asthma attack . Bravo , for all your efforts to date. They are still with you and can wait . I do hope you are able to enjoy summer. The fall will bring cooler mornings and evenings with less pollen around .

Look forward to hearing from you when your body is ready for you to take - time out again 🐾

Hi Alice, so sorry to read your post. It’s actually brilliant you are doing this - and have got so far. Could you set yourself a different challenge for the next few weeks? For instance I am super rubbish at drawing but have been doing a weekly free online class on Facebook- can send details if you are interested. It’s very relaxing and good for your mental health which I also have to work on pretty much all the time. I also took up the cello (!) as a challenge. Finally, slow cycling might be ok for your asthma? Cycling in the fresh air is a great uplifting activity. I love it!! As do my knees😂. Look after yourself and hopefully the doc will give you something different to help. X

Thank you for the kind words and advice, what is the drawing class called? I like to doodle flowers on everything so that sounds up my street 😅

Hi, Alice, really sorry to hear that you are struggling this week, but glad you are getting some support from your gp. As you’ve been through this before, with help from breathing exercises and medication I’m sure you’ll work out a way forward..

There’s no time limit on the plan, so just listen to your body, rest and take it steady for now.. take care and I hope you will feel better soon..🤗

This is pants for you! I have seen how over the last weeks your personality has changed, obviously you have gained confidence. You sound determined though, which is a good thing. Have you been doing your breathing exercises? It's very easy to forget to do them because you're feeling better - we all do it. The main thing is that you look after your body and take time to recover. Like you say, you can go back a couple of weeks. I'm sure you'll enjoy it all the more when you're feeling better and raring to go!
