Set back today...in need of advice

Today I attempted W6R2... I made the mistake of running at 3 o’clock. I live near a local comprehensive school... as I was running a boy shouted something vile at me and laughed. I am under no illusion that I’m overweight. I am large and incredibly ashamed of it, but I am really trying to do something about it.

I tried to carry on, but just couldn’t. I even stopped the run and started it all over again... but I felt so awful I stopped again.

I really really hope I can do it next time... my question is: because I didn’t complete the run can I try again tomorrow or do I have to have a rest because I ran for 10 minutes?

Thanks

Firstly, I would just put the remarks of the vile, ignorant boy to the back of your mind - you have done brilliantly to have got to W6R2 and he’s just an insignificant, ignorant ****** who doesn’t know anything about your journey and what you are going to achieve.

Secondly, I would say that, if your body tells you to run tomorrow then do it. I’ve just started W9 but hadn’t run for about 40 years and have had more than one rest day when my body has said don’t run and have run when it says go for it.

I’m sure someone with more experience will be able to give you better guidance than I have, but this has worked for me. Keep going. You will succeed.

Sorry I can’t answer your question but I can offer you some encouragement. I work in a couple of high schools and despite all the modern educational thinking some kids are just obnoxious! He probably would have shouted something at anyone who ran past as he was more bothered about making his friends laugh. That seems to be the biggest motivating factor for some kids. Well done for trying to carry on and for wanting to get back out there 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I admire your determination. With all your efforts you will not always be a size 22 but he will probably always be obnoxious 😂😂Sending hugs 🤗 🤗

Hey, this boys probably got obnoxious going through him like a stick of rock 🤬 brush it off, remember you're doing this for you, and go nail that next run!!! 👍

Kids can be horrible Hattie and you can feel sorry for him that he’s been taught to think that being cruel is funny. Try and forget it (hard I know). And don’t feel ashamed about your size - a good many of us have been there so don’t think you’re alone., you really aren’t on your own. You know what you’re doing - you’re losing weight and your running is making you fitter; focus on that and don’t let an idiot send you back to the couch ! Practically, you probably could run again tomorrow but if it were me I’d probably give myself proper break and go the day after that and possibly not at chucking out time if you can avoid it! You’ve come this far, we’ll be cheering you on as you finish the plan, go for it!

Aaargh....Hattie. I feel for you... some people can be so horrible. Sorry to hear about your unpleasant interaction and think I’d have stopped just like you. But it’s soooo good that you’re not letting this put you off.

I don’t have the expertise to say how soon you should run again but my heart says go soon so you don’t risk stupid doubting gremlins besetting you as well!! That boy was really ignorant and cruel but I’m sure you’re determined enough to keep going.

Good luck. Will be looking out for your post after your next run!! The positive vibes and inspiration elsewhere on this site have helped many others so 🤞🏻they do you too!

I agree with Jiveblue! See how you feel and just go for it!

Normally, I'd suggest having a rest day. See how you feel tomorrow.

And as for the lads, ignore them. They're trying to look clever in front of their peers.

I would take a rest day if I were you. Put today behind you and move on. In 3 weeks you will be a graduate of c25k; he will still be stupid.

Difficult I know, but try to ignore people like that. They are stupid ignorant fools. A similar thing happened to me, but it was a young man in his twenties in my case. He was just trying to look big in front of his mates and probably wouldn't say "Boo" to a goose if he was on his own.

Don't let things like this put you off. You have reached week 6 and that is no mean achievement. You should be proud of yourself.

Not what you're looking for?
