New route, new shoes and new me

Not long got back from my W7R1 and I have to say my new shoes were fab however I felt I had more confidence in my own ability. Instead of worrying about the fact I had to run for 25mins I had faith in the fact that I could do it so instead of starting out going so slow I am convinced I could be going backwards I upped my pace a little (not huge amounts) and it felt great.

I had plotted a new route that covers 5.2km as I have worked out at my current pace I do 1.2km with my 5 mins walk at the beginning and end and then would run for close enough to 4km within my run time. I loved it, I was even able to actually speak to people as I jogged on past them and even found I was able to smile :) I ran for 3.77km in my 25 mins, I know I am still a long way from getting to 5km and to be honest I am not sure these little legs will ever get 5km in 30 mins but I am so happy with how far I have come on this journey.

With this in mind I have 2 goals, I want to be able to run for 30 mins at a time and find it comfortable to do so and I want to be able to run for 5km at a pace that gets me to the end no matter how long that is.

I am doing my first parkrun on Saturday, I plan on doing W7R2 to get me around the course.

Definitely worked for you. I find a new route is really exciting as you may have walked it before starting c25k but to actually go out and run it is so different. You should be so proud of yourself. Enjoy your parkrun on Saturday 😊😊😊😊😊
