Start of week 9 - can I have a week off without losing progress?

Hi!

I'm due my week 9 run 1 tomorrow (30mins) but my shins are feeling a bit painful from running. I don't want to make them any worse, so would it be okay if I had this week off and started week 9 next week? I don't want to lose any progress with my runs! And also during the week off, will it still be alright for me to go on 45 min walks everyday to get my steps in?

My shins don't hurt when I walk but they do when I run, not unbearable pain and I can run through, but as I said I don't want to hurt myself even more.

Thanks!

No runner should run with a injury, congratulations on almost completing C25K with weeks 1 to 8 completed, sorry about your injury, give yourself 1 week off running and hopefully your shins will have completely recovered. 😊 🏃🏾

thank you! I hope so as they're not too bad - will it stop the healing if I go on 45 min walks everyday to keep my steps up during the week's break?

By all means go a walk or if you cycle go for short bike ride, the main thing is that your shins will recover.

One week shouldn't make any difference at att. You might even find it gives a a new spring in your step.

Never run though pain. It happens for a reason!

Definitely have some time off until your shins feel better again. Do NOT run through the pain. I have made that mistake and very much ended up regretting it. I only ended up making it way worse and then had to take a whole 2 weeks off in the end for my shins to feel completed okay again.

You won’t lose any progress or fitness by pausing for 1 week so don’t worry too much about it. :)
