Week 9. Hit a setback

So. Tuesday I completed day 1 of week 9 with my first ever 30 minute run. Felt ecstatic and so proud of myself. Taught my zumba class Tuesday night after a day at work. Wednesday is a complete rest day from now on. Spent the day sitting in a really crap chairat work. Yesterday which should have been run day my back went into spasms and I am now pretty much unable to move and on extremely high dosage diazepam to try and get it unlocked. I have back issues as it is so this is something I am used to and the doc said it's not related to my running- to be honest the only time my back doesn't hurt us when I'm exercising....

So. The plan is as soon as I am able to I will repeat week 8 and then do week 9.

Keep doing what you're doing people - you are amazing 💪

That sucks, sorry you are having back problems.

Just do what you need and keep on, if you have 2 weeks break you should still be able to carry on without losing any fitness, but if you're happier repeating week 8 then it is up to you

Am hoping to be back at it in the next week. My stamina may have slipped a little by then but it won't take long to build back up 🤞🤞

Let us know how you go.....you can do it. This is just a blip not a derailment. All the best 👍

That’s a damn shame... but it’s nice to hear of a doctor who doesn’t blame running! Hope you’re back for that victory lap soon.

Luckily my doctor is a runner and completed this programme several years ago. But she said because I have a weak back anyway just need to step up my core strengthening exercise. She's also not one to prescribe rest - move when you can is her thing hence me now having crutches.. . :)

That’s such a shame Mc but it sounds as though you have your recovery under control- good luck with completion when you get back to running!
