coming up to it as with alot of people i saw it as a obstacle a joke if you will thinking no way i could possibly do that.

I just want to say anyone in week 5 or coming up to it stick with it i just did the 20 minute run and surprised myself :-)

One question regards exercise i know i could google but i want to make sure im getting correct advice which i would here and that is when i was on the last minute the back of my left leg (bottom just above heel) started hurting on impact and walking after does this mean the muscle in my left leg is strained and i need to do more then a brisk walk prior to the run and if so what exercises are best.

thanks in advance

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K.

Stretch exercises are best after a run as well a walk.

Onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾

Congratulations on your achievement!

Try and stretch after the run. I didn’t last time and ended up with an injury. That means I am repeating this program.

Try to land on your forefoot too. I have had heal pain previously it could be plantar fasciitis. That needs different foot stretches and the right shoes can help. Mine felt like I had broken something but hadn’t and it’s fine now. Give yourself a couple of days off running just do the warm up and stretch then see how you feel.

thanks ive book marked that site but just to clarify on the pain its not persistant i only feel it when my left leg is tensed and in the last minute or so of the run every strike hurt i had to sit down during the rest run as there was no way i could carry on. Im ok to walk now but still feel a slight pain in left leg.

I will now take 2 rest days instead of one to recover just concerned i could make matters worse.

Is there some pre stretches i could do and would that help?

Look at pinned posts @IannodaTruffe he is one of the experts reread his post it tells you about warming up and stretching etc.

Hi and Snap I have just done this one too and was filled with dread as 20 minutes seemed too much but did it. I can’t advise on the runnings pains etc but others more expert than me can. Well done and go you.
