A late run for me after a difficult solo parenting day. Once bath and bed routine was finished and hubby finally got in, I wasn’t really in the mood. But I guess these are the days when it does you the most good.

I am finding putting running clothes on earlier in the day sets me up to get it done. (Now I know why you see so many people wearing Lycra in the supermarket!)

Managed to get settled into a good pace around 10mins although I was a little faster than usual. Hence when I got to 25mins I was starting to struggle. The steep hill to 28mins was tough but then the last two mins were downhill and I felt I had more to give when I got to the straight.

Wow 30mins. Feels good. I am so pleased and looking forward to the last two runs :)

I always run first thing in the morning as I just don’t think I’d have the energy after a day with the kids! Well done you! I’m 3 weeks behind.

Yes I think first thing is the way forward sets you up nicely for the day and it’s over and done with before the excuses start building!

Good luck for your next run :)

Brilliant! I salute you for getting out at the end of a long day- like Catchat I go first thing. I’m a morning person and when I tried a run after work it was awful!

Totally well done! I recognise those days, children, husband working big hours and being cross that you need to squeeze in a run... then you do the run, it’s not easy, but after.... after you just feel better! Super progress. Reading how it’s taken you a while to get through the programme - I started in July 2019, finished Jan 2020! So I think you’re doing rather ok!

Thank you.

All good things come to those.... who keep trying :)

Ha! The programme as well as everything else, gets you into a habit of going out and running. Establishing the habit is key. But I totally understand the difficulty when you waiting for hubby to allow you some time!

That’s great that you managed to do that so late and while not really being in the mood. I find I prefer to run first thing in the morning as the later it gets the less chance there is I’ll do it. Well done almost there 👍

Congratulations! Am a few weeks behind you, but finding the same, that the runs on the hard days are often my best. And certainly help me feel better about the day.

Very well done! I start Wk 8 tomorrow. I laughed when I read your comment about lycra - I have been living in lycra since the school I work in closed, on the basis that , if I'm dressed for action, I'm far more likely to get up/out and walk/run/walk the dog/do stretchy strength stuff/do Pilates/yoga! See???? You're right!

Yes it’s the way forward and keeps the washing down too!

Yeah!!! I haven't generated any ironing at all in the last 8 weeks!

If you can get out and run when you don’t feel particularly motivated you are clearly determined and that’s a great quality. I do evening runs despite being a morning person. Mornings are for walks with my dogs and I don’t want to change their routine so evenings it is. It can be tough getting out after a long stressful day but often I find it most rewarding on those days.

Keep up the good work and get that graduation badge. You’re one run ahead of me.

Thank you.

I have to keep reminding myself how good it feels afterwards.

Good luck on your next run :)

Nearly there Maddie! My w9 r3 tomorrow. I find running late harder too - I don’t know why.

So pleased you confirmed my suspicion about Lycra in the supermarket. 😂

You should be really proud. Solo parenting all day is tough - especially when you can’t go to too many entertaining places and have to home school. 💪 💪

Hi, like you I am on W9 but have just completed the second run. I always go out early morning and feel good for the rest of the day (maybe flag a bit around G & T time) but I am 77 so think its worth it. Great that you fit it in around parenting and I know that’s not always easy. We usually have our grandson 2 days a week but, of course, that’s stopped at the moment so going for these runs keeps me focussed. Well done you.

One more to go for you!

I think the morning runs are the best and it’s so nice when it’s quiet and you get some time to yourself. The Bluebells are gone now but the smell will always remind me of this time.

Well done on keeping so active at 77! Now that is a great achievement in itself. At the moment it is so important to give yourself something to focus on and it’s tough not being able to see those close to us.

Good luck for your graduation run!
