Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

When you can run for 30 minutes in a few weeks time, the early weeks would seem very easy.

Try slowing to the pace recommended in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Thatā€™s exactly what I said, but I did, and it worked. Plus I increased my warm up walk to get my heart pumping and it really helped. Good luck x

I felt the same too when I started. Couldnā€™t run for the train when I was working- used to just wait for the next one. Iā€™m now on week 7, running 25minutes non stop. Just follow the program and that will be you in 7weeks too. Like others have said slow right down, you probably think you canā€™t go any slower, but believe me you can. Also make sure you drink plenty especially the day before the run. It does make a difference. Good luck and stick with it
