Slow second k...any advice?

I graduated a couple of weeks ago and have been slowly increasing my distance, I’m up to 4.5km but I always seem to have a slow second kilometre. I think there’s something psychological going on because I’m a bit faster and find it easier once I get past half way. I think maybe I’m worried I won’t finish but just wondered if I could get any advice? Thanks all and hope you’re having great runs!

Do you know about the Toxic Ten? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Try running slower from the start.

Thanks but I’m not sure this is what’s happening because my first km is not a problem?

It takes different lengths of time for the oxygen deficit to balance out........it will show up further into the run, if checking splits, then improve as you run further, which is why I said slow down for the first k and then the deficit will be less pronounced and possibly overcome quicker.

Thanks! I tried this today and had enough in the tank to finish my first ever 5k!

I think you gave me this advice a while ago, that’s why I make my warm up walk as fast as it can be to get that toxic ten off ad running ASAP 😄
