Hi,
I’ve just done w8r3 and was all fine. Beautiful morning. All good apart from just 3 more runs to 5k and at mo I’m doing just over 3! Think I’ll have to do w9 for a few weeks! What do you think? I’m very happy that I’m doing 3k as it happens.
Hi,

I think it's all about what your goal is. Week 9 is purely about running 30 mins. If and it's a big if as most don't you do 5k it's a bonus. From all the posts I've read it's what people work on during consolidation. Once you are running 30 mins solidly, it's then down to you to make your goal, do you want distance or speed. Or are you just happy being a regular runner as that in itself is enough too!
Running 5k in 30 minutes is not a requirement for Graduation, and in fact only around 10% of people will achieve that.
I thing my week 9 run 3 was 3.9k
Hi Sue WK, I managed around 3.5km on my graduation run, and I'd think most that graduate will be somewhere between 3k and 4k, so really don't worry. I did my fist 'Consolidation Run' yesterday, and a decent tip I think is to replay the W9R3 commentary because whoever you used as your 'mentor' will still be with you...bit like an old friend. But, when he/she tells you to stop, if you can, try to press on for a few more seconds or even a minute or two, and that slowly will build up stamina and distance. I'm slow too and just kept telling myself during my runs there were 'no prizes' for not finishing, so if I needed to go slow, I did. If you are slow, then so be it, but slowly and surely and over time, you'll reach the 5k goal.....and two more things; really well done, and Good Luck!
Thanks for the message. I have now let go of the thought that I need to do 5k by the end of week 9 and that’s a relief. So, I can go back to runs which steadily build up the distance. I’ve been able to do each run so far and I’m very, very pleased about that.
Interesting to read your posts, sounds like great places you run past.
