I am dog sitting for a friend today, so I took her 3 and my 2 to the river so they could run around safely. As I know her Jack Russell can dawdle if he gets the chance I put some Canicross gear on him and let him set the pace for my run (including a couple of pauses for sniffing/comfort break which I jogged on the spot for). I think it is honestly the first time ever that I’ve run slower than the pace set by MyAsics. 🙂
I’m glad I went out early - the weather was still pretty good - if windy! - and we didn’t meet too many other people.
After a 5 minute warm up walk, the first part of my run was on the paved path, heading north. Not my favourite path, but not too awful either - and the scenery is pretty with cows in fields one side and birds on the river the other. It’s funny, I used to think that it was a really long way to the village where - if I only had my own dogs - I cross over the bridge and head back on the other bank, but it really isn’t, so all too soon I had to do a 180 and head back down the path I was on. Back down to the other bridge and then down onto the Very Overgrown path beside the river itself. In the winter this will be mud and pretty much nothing but mud, but it is currently lush grass that lies flat rather than stands up, so really had me lifting my feet up high for most of the last 1k.
Scheduled run finished, I did a cool down walk and some stretching as we continued south along the river, before turning round once again and heading back to the car. Total distance travelled 6.5k.
