I've done week 5 run 1 and 2. I have had 3 days off so I'm going to repeat these before trying run 3. I am very scared of run 3 . I know to keep it slow and steady and I really couldn't go any slower. It's not that I'm too out of breath it's just the back of my calves feel so heavy and tight.
Hopefully this week I'll be brave enough to give run 3 a go. I'll let you know how I get on.

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow.
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.
Don’t be scared of run 3. Yes it is hard, but go at it with a positive attitude and you will do it. I thought I couldn’t run any slower, but believe me you can! When it got tough I just kept saying to myself ‘you can, you will’ and other positive thoughts. Good luck, you will do it.
Hi - I've just completed W5R1 and also feeling so good that I've managed it. I have now discovered the warm ups and stretches to do after running, so I think that'll help the legs. Well done!
