From week 4 pain to week 5 success!! 😊

After experiencing terrible pain in my legs when completing week 4 I really did not see how I was ever going to do week 5. I knew that I was heading for a 20 minute run but how would that ever be possible after suffering so much when doing 5 minutes?! I didnt want to give up so I didnt! Instead I put all my energy into researching ways to help myself. With some excellent advice on this forum along with internet research I made some changes and cannot believe the difference! I paid attention to drinking more water and doing dynamic stretches before running. I found some effective strengthening exercises to help improve shin splints and I ordered some sports insoles to give my feet more support. I read a post about positive thinking which helped my mindset and I read about something called Japanese Slow Running, which helped me think about pace. Week 5, run 3 was not easy but I did it and with no real pain. I'm so chuffed!! 😊

You deserve to be chuffed, that is excellent that you did some research into running, we all advise people to drink plenty of water the day before running and just before they run and of course stretching exercises as well.

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran πŸƒπŸΎ 😊

Thanks for the tip! Yes I will take care. I was already thinking I shouldn't be complacent. I think the biggest thing is that I have my self belief back! 😊
