I have asthma & bad lung capacity so thought the couch to 5k would help me improve . I managed the first 5 min run ( just) but couldn’t finish the 2nd 5 min run. Should I repeat this run or go back to week 3?

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Just repeat the session you did not fully complete, after a rest day and perhaps at a slower pace.

Enjoy your journey.

You can always go slower.

I feel I’m going so slow not sure it’s possible to go slower. Today is a rest day but I’m already worried if I can’t do 5 mins how on earth will I get any further ?

You will do five minutes.

You need to adjust your mental approach and enjoy the challenge, not worry about it.

This post about mental approach may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this, so believe it.

Thank you, I will let you know how I get on tomorrow. I have read the positivity post, which I agree with, I just wasn’t sure having asthma I could physically manage it, didn’t mean to be negative.

Just go slow.

If you do a search on the forum for "asthma" then you can find posts from others with the condition and see how they coped.

Excellent!!

Our bodies are amazing, and although exercise induced asthma is a known issue, many sufferers do find their condition improves with regular exercise.

You can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to Lockdown5, ( a very topical username for you.) Congratulations on completing weeks 1 to 3, take all the runs slowly and as I say you can repeat run 1 of week 4 again, no you don't need to go back to week 3 unless you really want to.
