Week 4 run 1

Struggled a lot today. More so than any other week. I slowed right down because I knew it’s would be difficult, but although I completed it I felt very sick in the last 30 seconds of running. I’m not really sure why I felt so bad today when I have been fine until this point. I feel like this week is going to be a struggle.

I’m doing my w4 run 1 today - it’s a big jump up from 9 to 16 mins of running so may explain why you didn’t feel so good. Hang in there - have a couple of days off before attempting run 2 to give your body time to fully recover. I’ll let you know how I get on later!

Well that was definitely the toughest one yet! Going to have a couple of days rest at least before the next one as legs are aching today! Good luck with your next run hopefully it feels a bit easier!

Don't let that put you off - everybody has off days and sometimes its difficult to work out why. The main thing is that you did it so you will manage fine the next time! No harm in having an additional rest day but don't let the gremlins get to you - you're doing great!!!

Thank you, because it was the first run of the week I was worried it wasn’t just an off day. But maybe you are right, it’s seems most weeks I have one day where despite competing the run I don’t feel as good about myself. Maybe today it was just on the first run of the week instead of the middle or last. Thank you!

Well done, you did it.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Maybe you are coming down with something.

Take care.
