So, this is my first post but I'm so chuffed with myself I had to share. I've never been a runner before but always wanted to try it. I'm by no means fit, overweight and I suffer with troublesome joints having good and bad days but finally decided to give C25K a go during the lock down. Each week I have been surprising myself but if I'm honest I knew this week was going to be tough as things start to ramp up now but I made it through. The last 5 minute session was particularly difficult and my pace slowed right down but I kept going despite my legs feeling like lead! I'm determined to get through to graduation so onwards and upwards

W4R1 - I made it!
Well done on starting week 4 and welcome to the forum.
Week 4 does seem like a step up, but you have the right idea in adjusting your pace and showing determination to push through, so just continue as you have been doing and you will be fine. Plenty of hydration and good stretching will help with those heavy legs.
Happy running 😊🏃♀️
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done!! I remember that run and felt like I would never be good enough to move on. You have great determination so you'll be fine. Follow guidance on pace, keep it steady. I remember it was round about this run I took on the advice to do a dynamic stretch before starting the walk and also a good stretch on completing the run. The hydration point also makes a huge difference. I always feel it in my legs if I haven't drank at least 2l the days before a run. 🥛Keep up the effort. Week 9 will be with you before you know it👍
Thanks for your tips on hydration, I'll definitely take those on board. As my run was early this morning I didn't get chance to drink too much before setting off which may not have helped?
I just finished W4
R1 too! I was so pleased when I heard 'You've done it' that I whooped and frightened a lady walking her dog about 50m away!
