Hi just returned , slightly confused as it was a lot easier than I imagined ( especially after running 20 mins straight )but still did not find it without a challenge !

I think I should be more comfortable than I am running by now and although the experience for me is the achievement angle I genuinely thought I would really look forward to the runs , which I regrettably don’t , plus I also thought I would have clicked into the delight / jubilation of running ! ???

However I not daunted and Wednesday I will continue with W 6R1

Congratulations on completing your longest workout to date.

Slowing down makes it easier, more achievable and for many, much more pleasurable.

Hi , my legs feel heavy /like lead at the latter part of the run any advice ?? Also I thought I would be finding running enjoyable and less like hard work by now which is not the case , when did you start looking forward to running or finding it a pleasure ?

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

This is essential, not optional as this post points out healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you are poorly hydrated then you are fighting your body, rather than working with it and it is never going to be very enjoyable.

I was hooked on running within two or three sessions and realised that a comfortable, sustainable pace is key.

Work hard and it feels hard.

Slow down and it becomes easier and more enjoyable, enabling you to enjoy your environment.

If you cannot speak clear, ungasping sentences as you run, then you are going too fast.

This is all explained in the guide to the plan.

Hi Ian

Thanks for the reply and advice ! Or maybe it’s my fitness is poor and lungs starting to adapt ! But I will drink more but I run / jog slowly already I think

Thanks again

You say you are slow.......forget about that word, it is totally relative.

I repeat, if you cannot speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run, then you are going too fast.
