Wk7 R1 - Brians revenge

Today, was the first time in weeks, that I've run in daylight. I found it strangely off putting. My usual markers looked a little different and people could actually see me from a distance!

All in all, it wasnt much different to Wk6 R3, which I take to be a good thing. I took on advice about not being over confident and tried to keep to what has now become my usual pace.

The one thing that did catch me out was Brian (for the newbies, Brian is the name I give to a hill which takes up the last 10 minutes of my run). Brian is actually in 2 parts. A steep bit that takes about a minute to run up, the a short flat followed by a long steady climb.

Well that first steep part really took it out of me today. Thankfully I've built up mental resilience over that last few weeks, otherwise I might have stopped. I was well into the last 10 minutes before I recovered. New found respect for Brian!

I usually try now to kick up the pace for the last 2.5 minutes, but I just didnt have it in me today. Instead, I dug deep and did a bit of a sprint for the last 20 seconds. But, this program is Amazing. Fully recovered after my 5 minute cool down walk (though still quite sweaty for a while. Not that you need to know that) and so far, no aches, pains or niggles.

So happy I'm doing this. And do happy that Snowgdss is doing it too. She went out just before me and had a really good run. She's flying through this. So proud of her.

Have a great day everybody

Mig

Nice that you enjoyed running up Brian, glad that you have respect for Brian.

Run 3 of week 6 and the three runs of week 7 are exactly the same, 4/25 minute runs 🏃🏾, perhaps it looks a little different running in daylight rather than when it's dark, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 7, whether it's up Brian again during daytime or when it's dark👍😊🏃🏾

By some miracle, what we both managed to do today, was avoid the rain! I think this is also the first time in a couple of weeks that we've managed that!

Brilliant running , RunningMigster. 'Brian' will really help you to be a stronger runner and that's showing in your runs now. You should be really chuffed. Well done to you and Snowgdss

Well done! One of the runs I used to C25k had a steep hill near the beginning and long slow hill at the end. And it was the one at the end that used to finish me!

It was also a route I used to do as part of a group in the dark, so it wasn’t till the evenings got lighter & I’d been running it for several months that I realised we ran through a wide gap in a hedge at one point 🤦‍♀️

Well done Migs, another entertaining post and fantastic progress by the pair of you, what a family you are! Not only that but you're also conquering Brian (have you noticed that's an anagram of Brain? you see, it's all in the mind) too that's even better. Keep it up both of you, as Laura would say,m you're doing really well!

Respect!! Brian sounds a real corker or ruder words 😂. Can’t do hills so you are both doing Yorkshire proud! ( once lived in Donny!)

Well done you. Just look how far (figuratively and literally) you have come in 7 weeks. That's a huge achievement and so should be proud of where you've got to.

Great post , and even better to hear quick recovery on cool down walk

I shall look forward to that

We have lots of hills in south devon

So run in the dark up and down the flat area outside our house, we went up a slight hill last week and it nearly finished us!

Good work to you both
