A solid potato ! Never run in my life

Hi I’m determined to give this a try. I’m 65 about 3stone overweight with health issues. But I need to try something to loose weight. Diet is good but still no weight loss. I’ve started week one by just walking faster for the one minute. Is this ok ? My calves burn after the first few one minute walks ! How can I stop the calf burn ?

Like Jo she’s great

Well done for getting started , just keep going slow and steady and you will be surprised how easier it becomes. Make sure you land on the mid point of your feet not heel first

Happy running. 😀

Hi Delgirl, I also suffer with my calves, have done for a few years. Even when walking fast, especially up hills. Mine was checked and it is to do with the blood vessels in my calves not opening and closing correctly. Before today’s run as well as the normal stretches I did quite a few extra ones on my calves and I found that massively helped. I also have wear a good pair of support socks/stockings, but be careful to get the right size and not get them too tight, the pharmacy can advise 😊. If you find it continues you should get it checked out though just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps 😊.

Thank you that makes sense I’ll def try lots of stretches to see if it helps.
