Never ran a day in my life!

Beckisjourneyto10k profile image

Hey guys! I’m new to running and just completed week 1 run 2, I set myself a challenge to run next years Bristol 10k in memory of some family members we’ve lost

Any hints or tips? I’m trying to fit my runs in between work kids and life

Sounds like you have a strong motivation. That will carry you a long way. For the rest of the journey there’s loads of stuff in this community that will help. One of the administrators should come on and give you the useful links in a bit. Good luck with your running! 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️😀

Well done! Sounds like a great race to aim for. No tips, I’m a newbie too. Just did my first run today... now I want to sleep and eat everything in sight! Ha ha! I’m hoping it gets better... x

Find your pace, there's no rush. You'll see a slow pace and good breathing will keep you going. And don't get down if u miss a run or can't finish a run, just as long as you don't quit the plan then you're still making progress. The plan really does work and the support on here is great. My favorite part is when I come home after in shock that I completed the run, I have so much pride in that moment. Also knowing for once I'm helping my health. Good luck, keep us all updated 😊

Yay! You are starting out on an exciting adventure!

- take every run very slowly

- be patient, it will come

- be determined, it will come

- hydrate well ... every day!

- be patient (yes, this is important)

- good running socks to avoid blisters!

I was doing no exercise bar some gentle yoga 8 months ago. Now I run three times a week FOR PLEASURE! This morning I ran 6k. I am 46 and fitter than I was at 26.

You can do this, Tia, and have fun along the way.

My very first C25K run I wore “normal” socks and paid for it with blisters! Couldn’t run again for 4 days and spent that time buying proper running socks. Not one blister since...👌
