Just completed w1 r3. I’m 49 and haven’t run since school PE lessons.
Have been going to the gym before lockdown and recently struggled to exercise in my home, just going for a once daily walk.
I can’t believe I’m ever going to be able to do this, but I must admit I feel such a sense of achievement when I arrive back home. Joined the forum this morning to seek motivation from others that are further along the programme. Thank you, I already feel encouraged just by reading some of your posts.

Morning, I have just completed Wk4R1 and to be honest I spent the whole weekend really looking forward to it but dreading the thought of running for a total of 11 mins!! I did it and I am so pleased with myself, true, a lot of slugs were overtaking me, but I did run for that total time!! I reached 60 in Feb and decided that at nearly 22 stone I needed to address the situation or not see my Twinnie Grandkids grow up!! I was that person who used to take the p*ss out of joggers but I'm one now!! I look forward to it so much and want to do it daily but it is important to have a break in between. Keep going you can do it!!🏃♂️🏃♂️👍😎
Hi, you most definitely can do it !!!!! I started this in January then stopped due to it being too cold, dark, rainy etc etc. I started again a few weeks ago and tomorrow will be doing W5 R2 😊. I enjoyed W5 R1 and ran for longer than I thought I could and am actually looking forward to tomorrow. I am doing this by using the Japanese Slow Jogging technique which I’m finding perfect for me and is very easy. Slow is the key to doing this and I now feel fairly confident 🤞🤗
By the way I will be 60 in June and don’t do much exercise. Keep in mind The tortoise and the hare 👍 And you will do it 👍👍🌷
Thx!!! Now I know what to call my very (very) slow jog: I’ve been doing the Japanese Slow Jogging technique!!! Fab! It gives me more confidence to stay slow knowing there is an official technique and science behind it! Many thx!
Welcome to the forum and well done for getting started on C25k.
You will be amazed by how the plan works its magic on your strength and stamina to build a pair of running legs in a matter of weeks. Follow the plan, keep your pace slow and steady, stay really well hydrated and stretch after each run. Your sense of achievement will increase with each run that you complete.
Keep posting your progress. The forum is a great place for support, advice and encouragement. Enjoy your journey. 😊
Brilliant. I find the forum invaluable, and as much part of the whole C25k journey as the plan is. Posting every run on here is a great way to keep yourself motivated and to link up with people who are either at the same stage as you, who are further on, or have graduated. 😊🏃♀️
My husband likes running and back in September 18 I started this programme to try and improve my fitness overall. I haven’t done any physical training since the third year at secondary school (showing my age as it’s now Year 9). PE was an option so I opted out!
Anyway, I did this Couch 2-5k and completed Dec 18. So yes you can do this. Absolutely you can.
I’m now redoing it as I had an injury and an issue with my foot.
The one thing spurring me on is I did this before, so I can do it again.
I’m 57! I want to be fit and healthy enough to enjoy life now and after retirement.
Thank you. I also missed a few years of PE at school (due to ill health and a lack of enthusiasm!) trying to make up for it now. I have started exercising more in the last ten years, but this feels like a real challenge! 😀
I think at first it’s a challenge in making it a habit. The next challenge is getting your stamina and mindset right.
I have to run on a treadmill due to a few bodily issues (I blame age).
So my runs are constant.
Just know you CAN do this. I look at others less able, older, carrying more weight than me etc. if they can do it, then it’s only my mind stopping me. A lot of this is in our heads.
Good luck, keep going and if it becomes a struggle, go back a step until it feels achievable. Someone last week said to me when I struggled...‘what’s the rush’.
I am redoing week 5 and finding it easier than first time, so that’s encouraging,
Hi, You can do it, i have just started last week, im on WK2 R2 d run today, and i feel great, each run makes you Stronger you don't notice at first, but you will know when it happens, must admit the End Goal looks Hard........But thats the Challenge i want do,to see what im made of.
Hi, welcome to this great forum - you’ll find lots of advice and support on here. In answer to your question about whether you can do it, the answer is a resounding ‘Yes’ as long as you follow the program. Just take things slow and steady and you’ll manage it!
I started C25K a couple of years ago at the age of 54 with no previous exercise experience other than school and I’m still going.
Runners are a great bunch of people and we’re all here to help you get where you want to go. Good luck!
