Have I got my mojo back? I think so!!!!
After my triumph on Monday , with my first 5k in 6 months, I didn’t set off with any goal in mind this morning but to run for at least 30 minutes. And having no particular goal seemed to help as I just felt free and easy and the run seemed to come easy this morning. It was a bit colder than of late which always suits me. And 30 minutes came and went so I thought I’d carry on until 5k again.
And the route had been nice and clear, any other runners and walkers I had encountered had kept to the proscribed 2 metres or more, we’d all exchanged “ good mornings” and “ Thank yous”, and everything was nice and calm. Then when I realised I was coming up for 5k, about another 2 minutes or so to go, I came out of a Public Cut-through, onto Abbey Road, and turned for home. I was on the right hand pavement and I saw a family of 5 coming towards me, all across the pavement. If they had gone into single file we could have passed each other easily but no....they weren’t budging. Seeing that the other side of the pavement was clear I glanced over my shoulder to check the road was clear before crossing and saw there was a car nearly level with me. So I ended up having to dither, turn and retrace my steps before crossing behind the car as it passed. And not a bit of acknowledgement from one of the family ...!! 😡😡
As it was I finished my 5k having shaved 1min 15 off Monday’s time which was great but I’m sure I lost time dodging the pedestrians. Oh well I was the “good” runner and took the moral high ground. And it was a flipping good run.
Came home and soaked in the bath before chilling with my old girl cat and watching Outlander and then Heroes, baking a gorgeous fruit cake and having a lovely Pilates session this evening. Really good day overall 😁😁
